IVR & Older Peeps
I am going into my dialysis center and there was a patient on the phone. She was attempting to find out the status of her ride after her treatment.
As with most Contact Centers, I believe an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system was used. She was struggling with it. She was attempting to get an update, and then an agent. It took her libger than it should.
I’ve been in the Contact Center world most of my career. I’ve seen it grow from pressing a number(s), to using some voice commands. Most voice commands must be simple and not complex sentences, in most instances.
We aren’t at the point where an individual can have a Star Trek convention with a computer. I hope to see that in my lifetime.

Giving it Away
Part of working a 12 Step Program is giving away what has been given to me. Helping another man is a different rush, a feeling that tickles a receptor in my brain.
It also gets me out of my head and my own way. I stop thinking about myself and being selfish for the time I’m working with him.

Celebrating Recovery!
At Happy Hour Group in Vegas I enjoyed handing out chips. I take that back, not so much when it's summer in Vegas and it's pre-heat the oven temperature people are sweaty. I digress.
I have been to meetings across the States and the Philippines. The folks in the Low Country have a different chip system, similar to the faith based program I have gone to.
The method on handing out chips is a bit different and like how it ends. A bunch of folks say after asking/handing out chips say "Clap for the chips ypu hold." I like that, reminds me to celebrate the Milestone achieved one day at a time, working it in community.
When i get back to Vegas and if called to serve as chip dude, that's how I will end that part of the meeting.
