Niel Flamm, a resilient 52-year-old, has transformed profound life challenges into an empowering journey that he shares openly with the world. His modified life began in May 2023, when he became a right above-the-knee amputee after developing sepsis from a wound in his right foot — a complication that can occur with diabetes. This amputation marked the beginning of a significant life change, one that Niel chose to face with transparency, determination, and a commitment to inspire others.

Through his vlog and website, NielFlamm.com, Niel documents his experiences with honesty and courage. The platform features both 9x16 short-form videos and 16x9 long-form content, covering all aspects of his life — from the everyday realities of dating and traveling to the bigger challenges of employment, medical struggles, and recovery. His goal is to create a space where others can see that, despite setbacks, life can still be meaningful, adventurous, and full.

In September 2024, Niel’s journey took another turn when he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), also known as kidney failure. While awaiting a living or deceased donor, he undergoes dialysis treatment three times a week, each session lasting about four hours. These long hours connected to a dialysis machine have not stopped him from continuing his work as a content creator and motivator, providing unfiltered insight into what it means to live fully while managing serious health conditions.

As of July 2025, Niel’s dialysis schedule shifted, allowing him to maintain a routine better suited for full-time employment. With this new flexibility, he has launched a job search in the Learning & Development field, building on more than 20 years of professional experience as a Learning & Development Leader, Instructional Designer, and Content Strategist. His professional expertise, combined with his personal resilience, underscores his belief that growth, learning, and inspiration can thrive even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges.
