Ice Cream Man: Come for the Ice Cream, Stay for the Carnage 🍦🔪
li Roth's Ice Cream Man has an old-school '80s horror vibe, demonic ice cream, murderous kids, revenge, some great jokes... and a few moments where I was hoping the movie would just end.
So, is it worth watching—or should you wait until it hits streaming?
I give you my spoiler-filled take in the latest Junk Cast movie review.

Just maybe don't bring the kids out for ice cream afterward.
Can a Horror Movie Still Scare Me?
Today during dialysis, I was talking with one of the nurses, and somehow the conversation turned to horror movies. I'm not exactly sure how we got there, but that's dialysis for you. You show up to get your blood cleaned, and somehow you're discussing demonic possessions, haunted houses, and things that go bump in the night.
I mentioned that I love horror movies and suggested checking out my movie reviews. Come to think of it, most of them are horror. Apparently I spend my free time voluntarily trying to scare myself.
During our conversation, I came across the trailer for this upcoming movie:
🎬 Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEpTgowZ1dI
Take a look and let me know what you think.
This actually looks like a movie that might shock me. My biggest concern? That Hollywood pulled a Hollywood and stuffed every scary scene into the trailer. If that's the case, congratulations...I've already seen the best three minutes.
I've been watching horror movies for as long as I can remember. One of the first that really stuck with me was Poltergeist (1982) with Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams. Between the creepy clown, the TV static, and all the stories about the so-called "Poltergeist curse," it left quite an impression on a younger me.
The nurse and I talked about how years of horror movies may have desensitized me. These days, it takes a lot to make me jump. Most horror movies follow a familiar formula: creepy kid, dark hallway, loud violin screech...cue the popcorn.
But now and then, one comes along that reminds you why you love the genre. I'm hoping this is one of those movies.
Here's hoping I leave the theater thinking, "Wow, that was terrifying," instead of, "The trailer was the best part."
And to whoever at the studio is reading this...I need a pre-screen! Hook a brother up! I promise I'll bring honest feedback, avoid yelling at the screen (probably), and write a review. That's a fair trade, right?
If you've watched the trailer, let me know what you think. Does this look like a future classic, or is it another victim of the "we showed you the entire movie before opening weekend" marketing strategy?
And if you're a fellow horror fan, be sure to check out my movie reviews. Misery loves company...especially when it comes to watching scary movies together.

Evil Dead Burn — The Deadites Are Back Again
The Evil Dead franchise continues, and of course, I had to see where the story goes next.
After the original The Evil Dead in 1981, Evil Dead II, the 2013 continuation, and Evil Dead Rise, the newest chapter brings back the supernatural chaos, the Necronomicon, and yes... the power tools.
Because it's Evil Dead.
I break down how Evil Dead Burn connects to the previous movies, the callbacks fans will notice, why this one deserves the big screen experience, and where I hope the franchise goes next.
Is it scary?
Is it gory?
Does it belong with the rest of the Evil Dead universe?
I talk about it all in the latest Junk Cast review.

You've been warned.
I Finally Watched Sleepaway Camp… Now I Understand Why People Still Talk About It
Sometimes the internet rabbit hole wins.
I saw a reel talking about horror movies with unforgettable twists, and one title kept showing up — Sleepaway Camp.
Since it was streaming on Peacock, I figured, why not?
What I found was a perfect time capsule of 80s horror: over-the-top acting, questionable music choices, unforgettable fashion, and, yes… the legendary male crop-top era.
At first glance, it feels like another camp slasher movie trying to follow the path of Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
But then the ending happens.
And suddenly I understand why people are still discussing this movie decades later.
In my latest Junk Cast review, I talk about the nostalgia, my own sleepaway camp memories, the parts that haven't aged well, and why the twist still creates conversations today.

One Week. Flu Tests, Horror Movies, Nextdoor Rants, Podcasts, Travel & Controlled Chaos.
As promised, I send a weekly update email — mostly so I don’t mysteriously end up living permanently in your spam or junk folder.
This week accidentally turned into a full-time content production experiment fueled by caffeine, questionable sleep decisions, movie theaters, satire, travel energy, and whatever generic Theraflu was still left on the shelf.
From May 16 through May 23, the content machine at NielFlamm.com was working overtime.
🎬 MOVIE REVIEWS & VLOGS
The movie reviews and entertainment commentary kept rolling this week with new reviews, scripts, blog posts, teaser campaigns, and promotional content focused on:
• Passenger
• Obsession
• Mortal Kombat II
• Dolly
• Hoppers
• Forbidden Fruits
• Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die
The vlogs and review content also featured newly created music and soundtrack experiments developed with creative AI and audio production tools, helping to add more atmosphere, suspense, and personality to the videos.
🥃 BACARDI 151 VLOG
One of the more unexpectedly entertaining pieces of content this week centered around Bacardi 151 nostalgia, storytelling, and the kind of “this probably wasn’t a good idea” memories that somehow become funnier with time.
The vlog blended humor, reflection, and chaotic energy in a way that perfectly fit the ongoing “what exactly is this channel anymore?” evolution happening across the site.
🎙 PODCAST CONTENT
Season 1 Episode 6 of the Down A Hole podcast received new promotional blog posts and multilingual marketing support, including:
• Chinese
• Japanese
• Vietnamese
• Arabic
• Tagalog
The episode explored mortality, gratitude, perspective, and life reflection — mixed in with the usual conversational unpredictability.
🤒 HEALTH & REAL LIFE
Not every update was entertainment.
I also documented the sudden onset of flu symptoms, the “uh oh” chills, the double nose-swab experience at urgent care, and the glamorous reality of surviving on fluids and generic Theraflu while still creating content.
Spoiler alert:
It wasn’t COVID.
It was still annoying.
🏘 NEXTDOOR COMMENTARY & CORPORATE SATIRE
The ongoing analysis and commentary surrounding Nextdoor continued heavily throughout the week.
Topics included:
• Communication silence across corporate platforms
• Public engagement concerns
• Moderation transparency
• Executive accountability
• Investor frustrations
• Questions about communications spending
• Dallas expansion commentary
• Sales conference observations
• LinkedIn engagement contradictions
• Platform trust and verification messaging
And yes…
More Nirav Tolia commentary happened.
Probably more than the legal department prefers.
The blog and several short videos also began expanding to include multilingual content support, with translations in Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese — with more languages still to come.
If you missed any of it, now’s the time to catch up.
