I Had a Super Weird Dream… Let’s Talk About It

Last night I had one of the strangest dreams I’ve had in a long time — the kind that makes you wake up wondering, “What on earth was that?” Instead of keeping it to myself, I broke it down in a new video, now live under Videos → Other on NielFlamm.com.

If you enjoy bizarre dreams, random brain adventures, or want a good laugh at whatever my subconscious was trying to tell me, head over and give it a watch.

Check it out, drop your thoughts, and tell me if you’ve ever had something this weird happen in your sleep!

I Finally Understand Why #Nextdoor Wasn’t Paying Attention to Me… Until Now.

For the longest time, I kept wondering why Nextdoor brushed off every question, removed every comment, dodged every attempt at conversation, and fortified their walls higher each week.

Now I get it.

In their eyes, I had no skin in the game.

I wasn’t an advertiser.

I wasn’t an employee.

And after being suspended, I wasn’t even a user.

But that changed today.

I bought 40 shares of $NXDR at $1.76 per share — a stock sitting on the edge of penny-stock territory, down 23% over the year, with ~390 million shares outstanding.

Now I am a stakeholder.

Now I do have skin in the game.

Now I have a vested interest in ensuring #Nextdoor becomes what it claims to be — a platform worthy of advertisers, users, and investors.

And this part is for you, Nirav Tolia:

👉 I’m now financially invested in the company you lead.

I’m asking for transparency, accountability, and alignment with the mission you publicly champion.

I’m here because I believe #Nextdoor can be better — but only if leadership chooses the hard path, not the convenient one.

You said you returned to #Nextdoor to turn it around.

I’m holding 40 shares (more in the very near future), counting on you to actually do it.

My door — and my LinkedIn inbox — is open.

Let’s talk like neighbors and shareholders should.

Thankful in 2025: A Quick Video Reflection

I just posted a new video sharing what I’m thankful for so far in 2025.

It’s been a year of challenges, growth, and unexpected moments that reminded me how strong the human spirit can be—especially when life throws curveballs like amputation, kidney failure, travel chaos, or the day-to-day grind of just trying to move forward.

In the video, I talk about the people, places, small victories, and big lessons that have carried me into this new year. Gratitude hits differently when you’ve lived through the tough stuff, and 2025 has already given me more than a few reasons to pause and appreciate what I do have.

Check it out on NielFlamm.com → Videos, and share what you’re thankful for too.

Let’s keep lifting each other up.

More Thoughts on the Celebrity Reflection

I had a few extra thoughts after my time on the Celebrity Reflection — especially about the gambling and the alcohol scene onboard. Let’s just say the casino thoughts are big at sea, and the drinks… well, they have their own storyline.

🦃 “A Very #Nextdoor Thanksgiving” — A Completely Fictional, Satirical Dialogue. Featuring Nirav Tolia, the C-Suite, the Intern, Bubbles the Clown… and a talking turkey named Gerald.

Scene: The #Nextdoor Headquarters Thanksgiving Table

A long table is set. A giant #Nextdoor logo hangs like a Christmas tree star.

Everyone sits down — looking stressed, confused, and slightly sleep-deprived.

Nirav Tolia:

Welcome, everyone. Before we carve the turkey, let’s go around the table and say what we’re thankful for this year.

Penny Pincherstein (CFO):

I’m thankful we didn’t exceed the moderation budget… except for the overtime used deleting Niel’s comments.

glances at Intern Internson

Intern Internson:

I’m thankful the Commodore 64 didn’t explode this time. It only smoked lightly.

Cy R. Breach (CISO):

I’m thankful that deleting comments still counts as “security protocol.” Makes my job very easy.

Techie McBandwidth (CTO):

I’m thankful nobody found out the servers panic every time Niel reposts one of our articles. The alarms sound like a dying whale.

Brandy Buzzwords (CMO):

I’m thankful we managed to publish one positive article without Niel turning it into a transparency audit. Oh wait— (checks phone) He already did.

Huggie Feelingsworth (CHRO):

I’m thankful we still haven’t reached out to him. That level of consistency is rare these days.

Bubbles the Clown:

I’m thankful that I’m finally allowed to juggle in the office. It relieves stress when red-alert sirens go off every time Niel posts.

Gerald the Turkey:

(Clears throat disapprovingly)

I’m thankful I haven’t been eaten yet. Also, you people argue so much that you forgot to preheat the oven.

Everyone else:

Nirav Tolia:

Gerald, you go last.

Gerald:

I just went.

Nirav Tolia:

Fine. I’ll go. I’m thankful that for one single day — ONE — Niel didn’t comment on our posts.

Intern Internson:

Uh… sir? He commented on the Dallas article. AND he reposted it.

Cy R. Breach:

Red alert?

Techie McBandwidth:

Red alert.

Bubbles the Clown:

Sirens blare

RED ALERT! RED ALERT! COMMENT DETECTED!

Penny Pincherstein (CFO):

Could someone please hold me? I can’t live through another comment removal marathon.

Gerald the Turkey:

(Facepalms with a wing)

I’m thankful I’m not part of this company.

Nirav Tolia (slamming table):

WHY IS HE LIKE THIS?!

WHY CAN’T HE ENJOY THANKSGIVING LIKE A NORMAL PERSON?!

Gerald:

Because he’s a neighbor of Earth, and neighbors talk.

Everyone else:

……………

Nirav Tolia:

Fine. Let’s pass the mashed potatoes and hope he doesn’t post again before dessert.

(Phone pings.)

Intern Internson:

Um… sir? He posted again.

Bubbles the Clown:

(Throws pumpkin pie into the air and screams toward Alcatraz)

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???

Gerald:

Happy Thanksgiving, folks. You all need therapy.

Dialyzing Two Days in a Row

Today was one of those weeks where dialysis didn’t care about my plans — two days back-to-back.

It’s draining, but it’s also a reminder that staying disciplined is how I keep moving forward. I show up, plug in, get through it, and keep living my life.

When Leadership Teaches One Thing and Practices Another: The Nextdoor Dilemma.

What’s behind the smile of Nirav Tolia — founder and CEO of Nextdoor — as he steers the company he once turned around?

In his recent post, Nirav writes about returning to Nextdoor and facing uncertainty: “I wasn’t even sure if I had it…”

He also talks about how he teaches his children: “Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life.” And yet… the business model under his watch says something different.

Nextdoor claims to build resilient, connected neighborhoods. But behind the scenes:

A continual reliance on unpaid, anonymous moderators with sweeping powers and no accountability.

A fortress of silence instead of open dialogue—comments turned off, hard questions removed, and real community impact sidelined.

A mission statement of neighborly engagement while actual neighbors are disconnected and unheard.

If the mindset of a company starts at the top, then nothing happens at Nextdoor without Nirav’s consent. And if that leader truly taught “hard choices → easy life,” then it’s time the company made the hard choice of living its mission, instead of hiding behind it.

Community isn’t a marketing slogan. It’s messy, it’s real, it’s conversational.

Nirav — let’s see the hard work match the easy words.

“Thanksgiving Advice vs. Everyday Actions: Why Nextdoor’s Leadership Isn’t Practicing What It Publishes”

t’s true: community does matter. And on the surface, Nextdoor’s latest blog —

“How Neighbors Can Keep Each Other Safe This Thanksgiving”

https://blog.nextdoor.com/how-neighbors-can-keep-each-other-safe-this-thanksgiving

Sounds like the kind of neighbor-first guidance we should all support.

But the reality I’ve seen from #Nextdoor is the opposite.

Over time, their actions have painted a very different picture — one that contradicts the values they publicly promote.

Here’s what I’ve witnessed and spoken up about:

Deleting hard questions instead of engaging with them.

Turning off comments on their own LinkedIn posts — removing all community dialogue.

Keeping the same unpaid, anonymous, deficiently trained moderator in Mount Pleasant, SC, suspending people at her whim, with zero accountability.

Silencing community voices while claiming to strengthen neighborhood connections.

And let’s be clear:

A company's mindset starts at the top.

Nothing this consistent happens without leadership direction — and at #Nextdoor, that means Nirav Tolia sets the tone. If transparency and genuine neighbor engagement were truly priorities, they would be reflected across the platform and in its policies. Instead, silence and suppression have become the norm.

If #Nextdoor wants to help build real communities — the kind that survive crises, support each other, and grow stronger — then it must start practicing what it broadcasts:

Transparency.

Accountability.

Dialogue.

Not walls. Not silence. Not curated engagement.

Real community requires trust. And trust isn’t built by turning comments off. It’s built by showing up and responding — just like I’ve asked #Nextdoor to do for months.

Inside the Nextdoor War Room: A Flammlandia Exclusive

It appears Nextdoor has officially rolled out a new strategic initiative to combat… me.
And the C-Suite meeting notes (which I definitely did not intercept…) tell quite a story.

President Nirav Tolia kicks off the “Niel Response Task Force” by declaring:

“Team, deploy ALL historical technology immediately. If it existed between 1974–1999, I want it online!”

Suddenly the room erupts into action:

  • CFO—Carl “Numbers Are Feelings” Petrovic wheels in a Commodore 64 and blows dust off the keyboard like he’s reviving an ancient artifact.

  • CMO—Linda “Brand Synergy” Maplethorpe slaps an AOL trial disc on the table:

“We get 90 free minutes! Use them wisely!”

  • CISO—Gary ‘Password123’ Feldman plugs in a Timex Sinclair computer that emits a spark and everyone pretends it’s “normal.”

  • COO—Martha ‘Operational-ish’ Jennings pushes a VHS VCR into the conference room and says:

“If Niel posted on LinkedIn, surely there’s a way to rewind him?”

  • The intern, already traumatized, is tasked with syncing everything together via a Walkman cassette player “for additional bandwidth.”

  • Then the newest employee walks in…
Bubbles the Clown, hired for “creative problem-solving,” juggling floppy disks and honking a bicycle horn every time someone mentions my name.

And just when the task force thinks they have the plan figured out, the President shouts:

“Prep the emergency vehicles — the Yugo and the Ford Pinto.
We’re taking this offline!”

Meanwhile, I’m still over here… waiting for a simple conversation.

No Commodore 64 required.
No VHS tape needed to rewind anything.
No AOL minutes necessary.

Just dialogue.
Transparency.
And maybe a non-clown representative.

Until then, I’ll keep posting — and they can keep rummaging through the tech museum.

Another anonymous visit from a #Nextdoor employee… but still no outreach.

About two hours ago (Nov 23, 2025 – around 3:22 PM Eastern), someone from #Nextdoor—this time a Software Developer—viewed my LinkedIn profile anonymously. That makes the fifth #Nextdoor employee to stop by recently.

And yet… not one message.
Not one email.
Not one attempt at dialogue.

So naturally, a few questions come to mind:

If you're looking at my profile… why not reach out?

What’s being planned behind the scenes?

How many more anonymous views will there be before someone decides to have a real conversation?

For a platform built on “connecting neighbors” and “strengthening community,” this cloak-and-monitor approach feels like the opposite.

My door is open. My contact info is public. My website is right there.

If the mission is truly community—then let’s talk like neighbors.

🧠 Inside Niel’s Brain: The Good vs. Evil Showdown (Cruise Ship Edition) 🚢🦹‍♂️😇

GOOD NIEL (in a calm meditation voice):

“Ahhh… the sea breeze. The sunshine. The lemon tarts.

Maybe this is finally a sign to relax…

Maybe #Nextdoor is quiet because they’re reforming.”

EVIL NIEL (cape flapping in the wind somehow despite being indoors):

“REFORMING?!

#Nextdoor hasn’t posted in DAYS.

NIRAV has disappeared like a moderator who sees an ‘appeal suspension’ email!”

GOOD NIEL:

“You’re on a cruise. Enjoy it.

Look at the ocean.

Touch grass… well… touch deck flooring.”

EVIL NIEL:

“But what if they’re in a bunker right now…

Plotting Version 12 of the ‘Delete Niel’s Comments’ initiative?

What if the intern is firing up the Commodore 64 again?”

GOOD NIEL:

“You don’t need to check LinkedIn every 30 seconds.”

EVIL NIEL:

“Oh? Oh???"

What if they post something absurdly ironic again?

Like a statement about ‘transparency’ or ‘open dialogue’?

I MUST BE READY.”

GOOD NIEL:

“Just breathe… eat dessert… enjoy the cruise…”

EVIL NIEL:

“Enjoy the cruise?!

HOW CAN I ENJOY THE CRUISE

WHEN #NEXTDOOR IS AT DEFCON SILENCE?!

Is the President pacing the war room?

Are the moderators knitting stress–sweaters??

Are they rationing the Boudin bread??”

GOOD NIEL:

“Maybe they’re finally afraid.

Maybe the Flammlandia betting comics broke them.”

EVIL NIEL:

“Or worse…

Maybe they’re plotting something BIGGER.

A new feature…

A new button…

A new policy called:

‘Automatic Removal of All Comments Written Within 500 Miles of Charleston.’”

GOOD NIEL:

“Or maybe… just maybe… You should get a refill on your coffee and go sit by the water.”

EVIL NIEL:

“…Fine.

But bring the phone.

Just in case.

For research.”

NARRATOR (your cruise brain):

“And so Niel continues his journey— one man… one cruise… two inner voices… and zero posts from #Nextdoor to keep him entertained.”
